NASCAR driver Danica Patrick has officially filed for divorce from her soon-to-be ex-husband Paul Hospenthal.
Patrick first announced her intention to divorce Hospenthal back in November via Facebook, writing “I am sad to inform my fans that after 7 years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage. This isn’t easy for either of us, but mutually it has to come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that’s how we will remain moving forward”.
Divorce documents were officially filed on January 3 in Arizona. According to the documents, a prenuptial agreement had been signed and neither party is asking for alimony, which is good for Patrick, who is worth a reported $18 million.
Patrick met Hospenthal, a physical therapist, in 2002 when he was treating her for a hip injury. They were married in 2005. Hospenthal is 17 years older than Patrick. They have no children.
