Study Finds More Men Prefer Marriage Over Women

A new study that provides the first inclusive look into the male consciousness found that men are more likely to prefer marriage to single life than women.

The study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention evaluated over 12,000 men and women between the ages of 15 to 44. A variety of questions were asked about sex, cohabitation, marriage, parenting, and divorce.

The CDCP survey had been performed periodically since 1973, but this is the first time men were included as participants. The results, released last week, compared the differences in attitude between men and women.

According to the study analysis, 66 percent of men thought it better to get married than to go through life single compared to only 51 percent of women.

“When asked about their attitudes about marriage and family and divorce, more men agree on the relationship of marriage,” said Gladys Martinez, the lead author of the study. “The majority agree it is better to get married, and few agree that divorce is best.”

The study also found that 55 percent of men want children compared to 46 percent of women. Ninety percent of fathers in their first marriage who live with their kids are involved with raising them.
